The Taylor Museum of Waco and McLennan County History is seeking artifacts and cultural heritage materials to enhance the story telling in the new exhibits we are planning.
We are looking for artifacts pertaining to:
- Indigenous and early settler history
- Founding and development of Waco
- Artifacts pertaining to the contributions and cultures of all Waco citizens, especially those previously under-represented
- Early agriculture, ranching and the Chisholm Trail
- Education in Waco
- Waco industry and commerce
- Waco and the War Effort; military uniforms, Camp MacArthur-related material, Rich Field, Blackland Army Airfield
- Early local churches
- Early Waco illustrations, photographs, advertisements or post cards
- Disasters/ Reconstruction pertaining to flooding of the Brazos, the 1953 Tornado, West Explosion
- Waco-related sports teams, Katy Park, noted Waco athletes
- Transportation relating to railroads, Interurban, Waco Trolley, Hall Cycle Cars
- Waco Neighborhoods
Please do not bring potential donation items directly to the museum unless requested to do so. We ask that nothing be “dropped off”. In addition, we cannot accept everything offered or make promises regarding what will and will not be exhibited. The decision to accept an item is made by a committee and is not the unilateral decision of one individual.
